My name is Gabe DuBose and I'm currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Population Biology, Ecology, and Evolution program at Emory University. In the most general sense, I am interested in understanding how evolutionary processes shape patterns of biological diversification. Within this interest, I am particularly interested in how various organismal properties shape evolutioanry trajectories by mediating the relative importance of fundamental evolutionary processes. Within this broad theme, I tend to focus on several topics:
The interplay between ontogenetic and evolutionary dynamics
The evolution and consequences of phenotypic plasticity
The evolution of endosymbiotic interacitons
I like approach these topics from both evolutionary genetic and evolutionary ecology angles. In this, I like to address specific questions using a combination of emperical studies, (including natural surveys, experiments, and bioinformatics-based inference), as well as mathematical/computational modeling.
